Erasmus Mundus deadlines for the 2027 intake
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJMs) don’t share a single deadline. Each consortium of universities runs its own admissions, and most of them close their scholarship round between December and January for programmes starting in autumn 2027. This guide explains how the deadlines work, how to use the official Erasmus Mundus catalogue to build a shortlist, and gives 10 scholarship deadlines for the 2027 intake that we checked on each programme’s own website.
How EMJM deadlines work
The EACEA Erasmus Mundus Catalogue says most programmes require applications between October and January for courses starting the following academic year, and tells students to check each programme’s official website for application procedures and scholarship availability. Three things follow from that:
- There is no central application. You apply to each programme through its own portal, and each programme ranks its own applicants and awards its own scholarships.
- The scholarship deadline usually comes first. Most programmes run an early round for scholarship candidates and a later round, or rolling admission, for self-funded students. NOHA, for example, closes its scholarship round on 15 December 2026 but accepts self-funded applications until 1 April 2027.
- A complete file is needed by the scholarship deadline. Several programmes say late documents are not accepted for scholarship applicants. Euroculture and NOHA require your bachelor’s degree to be completed by their scholarship deadline, while self-funded applicants can apply before graduating.
For the scholarship itself, programme sites such as NOHA, GLOBE and Euroculture describe the same core package: participation costs (tuition) covered and a monthly allowance of EUR 1,400 for up to 24 months. You can receive an EMJM scholarship only once. For a full overview of eligibility and documents, see our Erasmus Mundus scholarship guide.
Using the official EMJM catalogue
The EACEA catalogue lists the master’s programmes currently supported by the EU and is updated each year. To use it well:
- Scan the list for your field (your browser’s find tool helps). Each entry shows the programme name and acronym.
- Open the programme’s official website, not only the “project overview” link. EACEA notes that project overview links go to the Erasmus+ project results platform, which describes the funded project, not current admissions.
- Check that scholarships are still offered for 2027. The catalogue warns that some listed programmes don’t offer scholarships, either because their funding period is ending or because they kept the Erasmus Mundus name after funding stopped. WINTOUR, for instance, states that 2027–2029 is the last intake with scholarships in its current funding period.
- Write down four things from the admissions page: the scholarship deadline, the time zone, the self-funded deadline and any requirement that must be met by the deadline (degree completed, English test taken, referees submitted).

How to read a programme’s deadline
- Time zone and hour. Mundus Journalism closes at 13:00 CET, EDISS at 15:00 Helsinki time, and NOHA at 23:59 GMT. Convert each one to your own time and set your target a day earlier.
- Stages. GLOBE asks only for an online form by 4 January 2027 and then requests documents from shortlisted applicants. Other programmes, such as Mundus Journalism and WINTOUR, want the full document pack at submission.
- Different deadlines by group. EMLE closes earlier for non-European applicants (31 December 2026) than for European applicants (15 January 2027). MESPOM uses its scholarship deadline for applicants from visa-sensitive countries.
- Referees. Euroculture asks for referee contacts and gives referees two working weeks after you submit to respond. Your application stays incomplete until they do.
- Fees. Euroculture and GLOBE state they charge no application fee. Check each site.
A deadline plan from now to January
- October–November 2026: shortlist about three programmes from the catalogue, confirm the 2027 dates on their own sites, and book an English test if you need one.
- By late November: ask referees, order certified translations of your degree and transcripts, and update your CV. Some programmes ask for the Europass format.
- December: submit your earliest applications first. NOHA (15 December) and WINTOUR (17 December) close before the holidays.
- Early to mid-January 2027: GLOBE, MESPOM, Mundus Journalism, EDISS, EMLE (European applicants) and Euroculture all close between 4 and 15 January.
- Late January to March: Copernicus Master in Digital Earth (22 January) and IMARC (15 March) come later, so they are useful second-round options.
Keep the self-funded deadlines in mind too. If you are not offered a scholarship, some programmes let you switch to a self-funded place.
FAQ
When are Erasmus Mundus deadlines for the 2027 intake?
Each programme sets its own. EACEA says most programmes take applications between October and January. Of the 10 programmes we checked, scholarship deadlines run from 15 December 2026 (NOHA) to 15 March 2027 (IMARC), with most in early to mid-January 2027.
Is there one application for all Erasmus Mundus programmes?
No. You apply separately to each programme on its own website or portal, and each consortium selects its own scholarship holders.
Is the scholarship deadline the same as the admission deadline?
Often not. Many programmes have an earlier deadline for scholarship applicants and a later one for self-funded students. NOHA’s scholarship deadline is 15 December 2026, while self-funded applicants can apply until 1 April 2027.
How do I know if a programme in the catalogue still offers scholarships?
Check the programme’s official website. The EACEA catalogue warns that some listed programmes no longer offer scholarships because their funding period is ending or they kept the Erasmus Mundus name after funding.
How much is the Erasmus Mundus scholarship?
Programme sites such as NOHA, GLOBE and Euroculture state EUR 1,400 per month for up to 24 months, with participation costs (tuition) covered.
Can I apply before I finish my bachelor’s degree?
It depends on the programme. Euroculture and NOHA require scholarship applicants to have completed their degree by the scholarship deadline. Some programmes allow final-year students to apply as self-funded candidates.
